How to use the Fleck Deck
Fleck was designed to make journaling simple. Pull a card, answer honestly, see what comes up. That's really all there is to it.
How to start journaling
Let go of expectations. There's no right answer and it doesn't need to sound pretty. Messy is fine.
Pick your card. Shuffle and pull one at random, choose one that catches your eye, or pull three and pick the one that feels a little uncomfortable. That's usually where the good stuff is.
Set a timer. Five minutes is enough. Write until it goes off.
Just write. Even if you start with "I don't know what to write." Your thoughts will catch up.
Make it a moment. Tea, a candle, a Fleck playlist. Whatever makes it feel like yours.
Use it with someone. Not in the mood to write? Pull a card with a friend or partner and swap answers out loud.
Don’t chase breakthroughs. Some days will feel profound, others will feel mundane – it’s all working.
The five themes
The Fleck Deck includes fifty prompts across five categories.
Comfort: For when you're running on empty.
Emotional processing, grounding, permission to feel what you're feeling.
Use when you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like giving up.
Celebration: For when you need to remember what's actually working.
Gratitude, small wins, the art of noticing.
Use when you’re feeling flat or need a reminder of how far you’ve come.
Curiosity: For when you've lost the thread of yourself.
Values, desires, what makes you tick.
Use when you want to explore what matters most.
Clarity: For when your head won't stop.
Untangle what matters, name what's keeping you stuck.
Use when you’re stuck in your own head.
Creation: For when you're ready to move forward.
Where you want to go and what one small step looks like.
Use when you want to dream, plan and move.
